I've got the S version and one issue I had was with the
'roller' breaking due to pressing it at the right hand end. Pin on the roller is very small and is used as a support and it also has to turn the pot that allows you to scroll through the menu.
Not sure if the R has the same roller but try and use the roller from the left when you press to make changes

Fortunatley mine was repaired FOC by the importer even without POP
