Nitro has been around forever, but it has always been niche. With space an issue, and the smell and noise always a problem, there
will be fewer and fewer places to race. And with the boom in 1/8th electric rising (which is ironically spawned by the fact that 1/8th nitro tracks are not 1/10th electric-friendly), the numbers of nitro car is diminishing. It's a fad, like anything else in the R/C world. It will soon go back to being a niche class like it was before.
How very German of Durango to recognize a trend on the downside and then react after everyone else already did (see Volkswagen). I mean, after Associated releases a car for a given class, the writing is already on the wall, right?
Nothing against Durango as this looks like a great buggy—and I someday will definitely own a DEX410—but it seems like an odd basket to drop your eggs, so to speak.
Maybe a 1/8th electric will soon follow.
