You use both parts of the saddle pack. They're just the same as a single stick pack but split in two for those models where there isn't enough room to sit a stick pack in. Instead, you have a saddle pack with one part on each side of of the model, or if the model can take a stick pack , you just put the 2 saddles next to each other to form what looks like a stick pack.
There's no real performance benefit as such between a stick pack and saddle pack. But saddles give you may options when it comes to the balance of your car, because you can put a saddle on each side of the car, where as with a stick pack, it's usually the battery down one side, and your electrics down the other.
I'm just using NIMH stick pack batteries in my ZX-5.
