Thats the only way that makes sense to me. Tried smacking it on the table (not too hard

) and it didn't move. The metal gear side I had to slowing work my way around it with a flathead to get it off.

He is say that once you get the gear of, dremel the hex down just a bit on that side so that it doesn't fit so tight and will come off by tapping it on the back for next time.
