Also as with normal pistons, there is no 'best piston'. It depends on the track. The pistons allow you to keep smaller holes (good for landing jumps) even on rougher terrain (where you would use bigger holes). The pistons combine the positive effects of both.

For example with losi: On a rough dirt track you would maybe use orange piston instead of red to handle the bumps better. But then your car will slam down its chassis when landing from big jumps. With these pistons you just take the tapered red version. Over the bumps, shocks will go out fast as with orange pistons, keeping contact with the surface, and therefore handle bumps better. But when landing the jumps, shocks go in, using the non tapered side, giving you the effect of a normal red piston, so the car won't slam its chassis on the ground.

So in my opinion these pistons work best on bumpier tracks with larger jumps. Or high grip bumpy tracks, as almost any track in the UK.
