remove the screws from the fan and leave hanging on its wire. Then take the 2 bottom screws out, the sticky label on the side of the case needs to be lifted and then the bottom half of the case will come off.

The bottom board can be seperated from the top board quite easily ( pulls apart on a pin/socket ) and will give you access to the cables you need to repair.
