Default Spektrum DX6I for Cars Setup Question

Hi all,

I'm a newbe here - In fact I am a newbie to the sport..... But am getting well a truely hooked (to the point of obsession!).

To cut a long story short - Bought an Electric Park Flyer plane last year - first flight crashed - blamed it on Radio gear - rebuilt it and upgraded to Spektrum DX6i - second flight crashed - weather (and my nerve) been unsuitable over the winter - decided to get a car - got a Mad Rat kit - built and installed DX6i gear - ran it with throttle stick on left, but with no return spring on stick therefore the stick needs to be placed in the central position..... Not easy when you have no idea what you are doing.... guess what, I crashed!... Took the front end out hitting an 8" kerb at full speed (whilst looking down at the controller to find centre position to stop it)

I bought another kit to use as a donor for spares (whilst I sourced the individual parts) and repaired it - I also took apart the transmitter that came with the plane and transferred the return spring from right to left stick and used this in the Rat.... Works great and as I said I am loving it now I can control it - So is my son. So I am now building the "donor" kit and because I am on a tight budget (wouldn't believe it reading the previous!) I need to have a second attempt at using the DX61.

So after all that waffle, my question is how have others setup the DX6i to run with cars - I saw a post from someone who had. Also I saw, on another forum, a post talking about using pitch and throttle curves for helicopters and connecting the ESC to the AUX 1 port on the receiver.... But I know nothing about helicopter setup so am struggling to understand.

Any advice greatly recieved.
