how tight is the slipper. i set mine to slip for at least 1 foot. my bevel gear has been in there for over 10 race meets and no sign of needing to be changed any time soon.
i shim mine only on one side (to make it tighter), i think 1 silver and 1 copper. the bevel and ball diff is not super tight, i shim it so it has a little play (not much but a little bit)
either way most important is the slipper
