Ran mine at CML yesterday took 4th in the C.
I have never stripped a gear so can i suggest the following.
On the short side of the diff (flat of the gear) use two silver and one copper shim
On the long side of the diff use on silver shim.
When built new there should be no back lash, if you have any at all add another copper shim to the short side, which pushes the gears closer together.
Also check your slipper is not too tight, the shaft that it sits on in the kmc is threaded furthur than the lazer shaft.
