definatly dont reduce engine life, personally i find a turbo plugged engine easier to tune as the seal is better in the button



glow plugs are available in turbo and standard versions. The main difference being the turbo plug seals at the bottom of the plug instead of at the gasket. This seal takes the threads out of the combustion chamber volume thereby improving performance. The turbo plug design offers a greater choice of thermal characteristics, thereby a greater degree of optimization can be obtained in the configuration.
