It'll depend on the charger/balancer, but typically the positive, negative and link (miniature connector) are each connected to the relevant pins on the balance connector of the charger/balancer...and the the 2 main + & - connections are also connected to the output of the charger.

So wires connected as follows:

Large gauge wire from Charger output + to battery +
Small gauge wire from Battery + to balancer
Small gauge wire from Battery balance port to balancer
Small gauge wire from Battery - to balancer
Large gauge wire from Charger output - to Battery -

Large gauge could be 12/14AWG as you'd use for your ESC wiring, not sure on the smaller gauge, it's just to take a voltage reference off the individual cells, so doesn't need any large current carrying capacity.

The large and small gauge wires on the + & - connectors of the cells are normally soldered together at the battery connector end.

Hopefully that makes sense...a picture or diagram would help out a lot...but I have access to niether thing right now!!!
