I know what your saying however
the smaller gear can only be pushed down onto the hex shaft as far as the e-clip as this stops it
with it fully seated mine still has lateral movement I.e you can wiggle the outdrive back n forth within the large diff gear
I wonder whether this allows additional pressure on the xring potentially causing it to fail?
I am going to try shims n see if using them still allows correct meshing of the gears
