But plastics will only save money if they have the moulds already. Shock parts as you mention would have added a production cost not reduced it, if you look at the spring cups they are the same as the sx?
Consider that plastic parts only become cost effective once a volume target is met. This is why lots of the cars out there have common components from older models in a manufacturers range.
I don't believe any real pictures of the s1 have appeared yet, so the actual appearance of the shocks is only speculation.
