We at Kyosho (actually it was Mike cradock) used to look after Nic and his brother when they both wanted to get into rallycross again.
Mike bumped into them when they was in Models in Motion the shop where Lewis used to go in the beggining.
Then Lewis used to race at a club Mike me and Stewart Wilcox and quite a few others from the old days at Bennington.
I dont really remember Lewis or his dad back then apart from when the
club got the spot on blue peter. I remember that day well as Mike was very excited and told us all about it, The night before he asked his now wife Michelle to cut his hair but she forgot to attach the guide to the trimmer and took a square of hair down to his scalp he had to wear a hat to cover it up.
maybe thats why we only saw his leg on the programm

I think the thing that Mike connected with Lewis was the fact Mike realised Lewis was very good with his Turbo Burns and sugested to his dad he should get serious and race the nationals and look for sponsorship, Lewis dad told mike they was giving up RC and taking up Go_Karting, To which Mike replied" you dont want to do go-karting theres not future in it"

I am not sure that was the exact quote but it was something along those lines and when mike met Anthony again after lewis got the F1 drive he reminded Mike of those words

We never used either of them to make any publicity as it was not appropriate Nic was just starting and Lewis is seriously tied up in advertising contracts. Also we wanted to let them race without any pressure or reporters hounding them.
Nic is an avid racer and over the last couple of years has travelled and raced at many clubs gaining experience and has actually started to become a good driver. he is a young kid very likeable and should be treated on his own merit. He has the desire to win and with lots of practice could get to a high level.

I am sure Nic got his sponsor deal all on his own merit so fair play to him.

I wish Nic good luck for the season and hope he can relax and enjoy his racing as well as staying passionate about the sport.
