Default Reducing aggressive acceleration

When doing the gearing to reduce punch it's better to go smaller spur with a bigger pinion whilst trying to maintain the final FDR? I.e great top end, but loosing the initial punch..

Sorry I think I know the answer, but just checking I'm not going made.

I know the slipper has to be set correctly too.

Will be running a 8.5 this weekend instead of a 6.5 as the track is just too greasy to put the power down for me.

6.5 will be kept for dryer grippier running and when the Cougar arrives the 8.5 is destined for that.
