Best thing to is probably use a rubbing compound. Then use a tint. By tinting the window (not a heavy tint) it will cover any light scuffs made by the rubbing compound (T-cut).

I've seen some windows totally blacked out at brca off road events before. Don't thnk it matters too much in buggies as much as it does in tourers. I know in tourers, they fail your car if it has a slightest tiny bit of the design creeping into the clear section of the window.
Whereas, in off road, designs are regularly done to modify window shape.
