Iv ran lazers, cat and 501x.
I started with a zx5, but had issues with bevel gears as in my opinion cos i do crash , and i was running a fairly hot motor, i was stripping them and i noticed that the plastics were constantly stripping ( mainly gearbox housings), this was prob down to me crashing . I traded up for a 501x, and it was bomb proof and easier to drive in my opinion. Along came the worlds, and i bought the worlds kit. I ran that for 2 seasons, then bought a cat sx. The 501 drives similar to the cat, but was less twitchy, i had to turn down my servo speed on the cat to compensate.
I was happy with the cat ( phil booth car ) , but i didnt like the price of the spares. I never actually broke anything on it, however everyone around me was spending £30+ each breakage on towers, housings and wishbones and spur gears etc etc.
I sold it and bought a second hand 501x, steve kirks old car to be precise, if you get opportunity id look at a 501x or a 511.
