Don't be scarced of electric they are very easy to use these days and really with brushless you don't have to do the tuning that we used to do on the motors plug set the throttle profile and and adjust the motor timing and let fly.
Nimh battery on the other hand can be a pain but once you get the charging and maintenance sorted you shouldn't have any problems.
