Back in the depths of my dim and distant memory, I recall a way of advancing the timing slightly on a silver can motor, by putting an allen key or something similar into the motor to jam the armature, and then gripping the pinion with a pair of pliers and twisting the shaft.
Question is - which way to you twist it?
