I use the following approximate conversion:
Multiply the no. of brushless turns by 2, then subtract 2 to give equivalent brushed turns.
e.g. 10.5T brushless gives 21-2 = 19T brushed.
so for 16T brushed, you want to go the other way and add 2 then divide by 2 = 9T, so your pretty much spot on with 9.5T.
Obviously this doesn't factor in doubles, singles, quad etc, but I won't lose any sleep over that!
It's also worth remembering that lipos give more performance than we used to get with NIMHs, when comparing "old" technology with the new stuff.
