Don't get 'bodge' from the perspective that there's no 'bodge' to get? Or are you of a similar mind set?
Longer screws - ? The closer the shocks are to the wishbones / tower the better. Otherwise - you use the shocks as a bumper, you bend screws, you smash wishbone mounting holes. Using longer screws is a bodge if there ever was one - designing a tapered spring is a smart move, the opposite of a 'bodge' if you ask me.
