Here in the U.S. we have a whole class dedicated to 10.5 -- no faster motor allowed. Those guys have a blast and it's very competitive. At some races we even have a class called "Old Dude 10.5 truck" limited to that motor and guys 40+.
And you are right -- gear it to the moon and put a fan on it. I run a 17.5 in my X - 60 geared 30/70! It's too fast for me...
Brian and Ellis do more with throttle control in their sleep than I can on the rostrum. Less motor gives me a fighting chance. With my level of skill, the single most important thing is to keep it out of the hands of the marshals. Less motor helps me do that.
