I agree about the speedo. It was designed with the tekin in mind. V2 would have either speedo protection or an offset battery leaving all the electrics down one side.
Once I have decided that the principle works then I see no reason why this wouldn't work on a 416.
It is definitely a compromise to have a high layshaft. There is also a small amount of increased drag in the front belt. The trick is weather the pay offs out way the compromises. I am hoping to get some testing done very soon at Maritime Raceway. I have done 4 runs so far a few months ago(until I bent a steering part and had to get it made stronger!). It seemed very good but nothing conclusive yet.
