I've noted it and passed it on to our developer anyway but cannot guarantee IE6 compatibility, I'm no expert but it doesn't sound like a straightforward thing to do. We will have to weigh it up and see if it is worth doing or not.

Did you have a contract with your developers? There's usually something in it to say the website will work on all existing browsers but that it might not work on any new browsers released after the completion of your website.
If you have not already got it, install Google analytics on the site, it can tell you what browser people are using. If only 2% of your visitors using that browser, then it's probably safe to say you don't need to bother sorting the site out. but in another breath, someone in that 2% could be spending more than it actually costs to fix the problems.
