I wasn't asking because of the costs. I'm more interested in a molded chassis rather than the aluminum and ball diffs instead of metal gears. I'm sure a budget version with molded chassis and ball diffs will still be on the high side compared to most.

Also, I think a molded chassis and ball diffs will make the buggy more forgiving and easier to drive because of the added flex. I've read about a lot guys having problems getting the car to settle down and drive smoothly.

I have enough rc gear to start a hobby shop, so yes, I could sell some stuff and get the current version or just buy it. But that wasn't the intent of the query.
