Maybe the fact of the matter was that in the first year, there was maybe a poor 'choice' of driver or shop support, or no more intrinsic tie-in to driver and distributor.
I remember Stu Wood of old, and he was Mr Traxxas, he showed loyalty and realy pulled the car out of the weeds and into the limelight. I think the current market are looking for something new to run, but don't want to be the 'odd one' working on their own.
The correct choice of driver is so important. It is fine to offer discounted 'team' drives through shops, but you don't have much feedback or responsibility, but to support a driver direct, there is a much greater bond.
