Strange you've had the front shock blow out, I've only seen rear shocks do this. What rate is a black front spring? I thought the softest available was browns for the front and blacks for the back.
Make sure when you rebuild them you get as much air out of the shocks you can so it doesn't go "hard" before it bottoms out when the shock is fully compressed. The easiest way to do this is by drilling a small pilot hole in the shock caps to put a grub screw in, so you take the grub screw out then screw the cap on And push the shaft slowly in, this will remove nearly all the air. Now replace the grub screw. Perfect shocks every time!!
