if you have no pilot light, then the issue is on the boiler, and not the thermostat/timer, I would think.

You need to assess if you got gas pressure, water pressure (if a combi), if you got that, then I would think it is an internal fault on the boiler. Call out the cowboys... I mean, British Gas, they do a one off repair fee.
