Again, it's not the voltage that kills a connector, it's the current. High current means resistance increases, therefore more energy is wasted as heat at the connector, causing the plastic to melt.

Anyway, I've never tried to use Deans in my 1/8 scale set-ups, simply because they aren't rated to take the amount of current commonly seen among 1/8 scale.
