My question would be will the "R" have gear diffs or not? And if I had a definite answer to this I'd be able to decide now whether to wait for its release or not.

The R will have ball differentials. Everything else is still not confirmed - or at least they're not telling anyone. There's a LOT of machined alloy on this car - even various suspension hanger options that you might not use. The details on the car are what make it the price it is - worth 445 quid? you pay your money and take your choice, I think it's certainly worth it for the car - just compare it to anything else, and you can see the car has been a long time in development and has had a lot of investment.
