I wasn't the only one experiencing rapid gear wear, but a little bit of grease solved the problem completely.
I doubt you'll find the brand I use in the UK (Protech High speed grease)
It's red coloured and very sticky. I bought it a long time ago to lube the gears on my 200mm NTC3 nitro TC (yes, I've turned to the dark side years ago but have seen the light now
).
