No need for new connectors.
Just a very small screw driver (jewellers one) poke between the fins and bend them a little further out. You'll know if it's the case: as before you'll feel it move slighlty and after it will be tight as a <insert forum friendly metaphor>
But as said before - Rare, but worth a shot.
