I think in R/C racing everyone gets to a "breaking" point if you like.....
Looking back i packed up too young really, i had everything going for me racing wise and was still actually enjoying it but at 18/19 decided that real cars, girls and that sort of thing should take priority........
Then here i find myself 4/5 years later thinking damn why did i give up that Factory drive, and why did i not appreciate the help and support i had from sponsors and my Dad?
It's easy to not appreciate what you've got or how much you get out of a hobby like this (until it's gone)!
The amount i spent on real cars over the last few years could have easily paid for me to carry on doing Nationals, Euro's and Worlds but i just couldn't see it at the time and had to have everything there and then
The grass is always greener as they say............ and hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Only you can decide if you should or shouldn't give up but honestly, for what it will cost you to start again in a few years at least keep all the essentials that will help you get back into it quickly as i'm sure you will certainly think about it another day!
