but when the motor is running 'backwards' its installed in the car 'backwards' (180 degree flipped) - so it actually 'kicks' kicks in the same direction.
with a 3 gear gearbox the car would have to actually drive backwards to get the kick of the motor to be the same as a 4 gear
with 3 gears, the spur turns the same way as the wheels, its a physical impossibility to get the kick of the motor the same way as the wheels.
