I fitted only CR shims on mine (on XXX plastic outdrives). I glued the copper rings to the outdrives. The diff is very smooth but, most important, it doesn't deteriorate after many runs. I believe this is because the slipping happens between the copper ring and the steel ring, not the steel ring and the balls.
