The moterplate of an ulitma (original one) is held on in the same way. I have raced and built several of them for many years and never even had to use thread-lock to hold the plate in place. Just a bit of torque is all you need.
Coming to think of it, the screws always had bit f friction with the hole in the case and this probably helped in stopping the screw from unscrewing itself also. If you put the screw in the case without tapping into the motoerplate, can it fall out freely? Ifso: try covering part of the thread with teflon tape: the type used to seal tubes at the connections.
