What motor are you running?
The motor in my Durga runs hot too. I've just shortened the wiring to the esc and battery on the advice of expert, but the advice about making sure the belts are not too tight is sound too. Ran mine way too tight initially.
Perhaps also check that your diffs aren't slipping too, though you'd probably have melted them by now if they were loose. Have a look at the gear mesh as well - it's pretty tight in the Durga, but if it's too tight then that will put a lot of strain on the motor.
Tamiya pinions are the wrong pitch, btw - I found that out to my cost! Standard 48dp pinions work fine for me though.
