if you have any fiberglass workshops near you they will have loads and may sell you some acetone. I got some shipped from a fiberglass company in cornwall.
nail varnish remover will work as long as you get the stuff that has acetone in it. But it will take a long time to come off as it's only about 10% pure. plus as already said it is very expensive compared to the 5l cans of 99% pure acetone.
