It can handle a 10.5, I've driven one with a 17t (brushed) motor so a 10.5 would be fine.

There is no slipper available for the dt02, but it doesnt really mater in my opinion the cars are tough and the drivetrain is simple.

You could look for a DT02ms, these can still be bought from local model shops and have all of the hop-ups and cost about £85/90. For an esc / brushless combo get a ez-run of ebay. Fast reliable speedos and motor (the 9t is very quick for a beginner, maybe one of the 11/12t combos)
