no - they are very similar to the Losi mounts (same mounting hole centres) but a little more forgiving in a crash and cheaper too. i used a JC 6" high downforce 'V' wing with them and, given my limited driver skill, didn't notice any performance difference to the std wing at all. i think it also looks better but that's my opinion - certainly more likely to stay attached to the car
