Now I haven't taken apart an Exzes but I did repair the pot on my old Exerd Gemini a couple of times.
The pot itself was fine, it was the clamp that held it in place that had broken - I had to get a broken handset off someone else to get the part.
I don't think there is anything to fear by taking the handset apart and having a look at what has gone wrong. Hopefully the pot will have a code printed on it and you may be able to source a single one for a lot less than £55. But if it is the stick itself that is damaged you might need to ask Ripmax to sell the parts seperately.
