My own experience is that it's definately not weak. I damaged one by screwing the rear suspension holder too tight, and broke another one on a very bad landing, but that's all. The reason that all modern 2WD buggies have a T piece is to avoid breaking the chassis and ultimately ona B4 or XXX they'll break this same part at some point. It's also quite a cheap part.

Also, I'd definately avoid making a c/f or aluminium part.

It's very easy to spot the newer part as opposed to the old ones, they're much beefier.
