Brushless is a bit a fashion thing (I am a victim I know)
Brushless only advantage is the motor maintenance, but it is only valid for high power motor. Besides, the efficiency is much better on the ESC (the ESC doesn't need a heatsink & fan for heat produced), and equal efficiency on the motor for reasonable power motors (contrary to what some manufacturer's marketing pretends).
Try a brushed ESC + motor for (10£+2£) ... see trader corner on this site. You'll see later if you feel the requirement for brushless...

You are joking
As a long time advocate of brushed/nimh I recently changed to lipo/brushless and would recommend it anyone.
No more skimming, changing brushes - easier to get the right ratios.
At the club more equal racing now just about everbody is running brushless.
Oh yes I run 13.5 changed from 27T/19T hardly high power and the benefits still stand
