I'm sure I saw a replacement aerial on the Ripmax website for £7.95 but cannot seem to find it now, only the extended aerial for £14.95. Probably worth asking any Ripmax agent if they can get one.
As for the aerial, the grey part of the wire is co-axial cable and hence the aerial wire is shielded, it is the unshielded bit sticking out the last 6cm or so that actually receives the signal. You could try cutting back the grey sheath and braiding to expose the inner wire, but you'd need to be very careful not to damage the inner wire.
