Sorry Welshy, I'm not trying to burst your bubble. It makes no difference if a motor has the sensor cable hardwired to the motor, or if it just plugs in; this has no bearing on the Mamba's ability to run the motor (the Mamba will just run any motor as sensorless). That ability depends on the motor's actual electromagnetic design. There are a couple of odd motors out there that it doesn't get along with so well, but it'll run most of them just fine as long as you have the latest 1.20 firmware installed.

Unfortunately, there aren't many (if any, I'm not sure) sensorless-only motors out there that are BRCA-legal. Something like a Neu 1406 when it comes out, or Medusa Afterburner V2 would be amazing motors to use...but is just as illegal as the Castle CM36 motors unfortunately.

The Mamba also shouldn't have any problems running low-turn motors, like a 4.5 or 3.5; it can handle more current than most other 1/10th speedos out there. Maybe there was something not quite right with your setup, Welshy?
Well I learnt something new. Cheers. Mind you the wire may get in the way if you do choose something like that. My 4.5 made the esc very hot and I had to screw in a fan but that didnt help out that well either. The Mamba motors run a lot cooler hence why I rekon a 5.5 would be better suited without any harm coming to the esc. Maybe my esc was faulty but then again I geared it quite high.
