Durability depends purely on what aluminium alloy has been used to make them.

In the late 80s alloy wheels were a popular upgrade, being a lot stiffer than the wheels we were using at the time. Raced for ages using RW Racing alloy wheels back then with no problem, bought some modern copies the other year and destroyed two of them in one race.

A silicone adhesive or Shoe Goo will stick the tyres to aluminium no problem if cyano doesn't do the job.
