Companies will only ever research new areas and if there is a chance of oil then they are lucky, it has been known for companies to spend millions in exploration and building in a platform only to find that its hot air down there
With regards to keeping troops in, i think the country is now a more stable and a better place to live. Could you imagine living there under saddams reign. Its not war right now, is there a major difference in what they are doing now to what they did in northern ireland

I agree they shouldn't just leave, and we should finish the job, I don't think we should have gone in at all though!! How long would it have taken Saddam to do this much damage? Water/electricity shortages as well as all the death and destruction!?
Generally I also think oil co's have a hard job in exploration etc when the Market fluctuates, for example Canadian Tar Sand development that's not viable at todays prices but was in the summer!! They could help themselves though with better PR!!!
