Second, I will be running a GTB w/6.5 motor. What should the gearing be? It came with a 78 spur. And where do you guys mount the ESC, behind the motor or on the other side of the motor. Sorry if these questions have been asked before. This is my first 1/10 4wd buggy.
Thanks

I run my car without a servo saver, so long as you have a good metal geared servo it will be fine. I run a KO 2343 (with plastic safety gear) and the servo horn breaks before the servo gears strip.
Assuming your Novak motor is sintered I'd start on a 18t pinion with the 78t spur, if it's a bonded rotor drop down to somthing like 15/78.
I've run the ESC on both sides of the car and didn't really notice any difference where it was. I run mine behind the servo as for me thats where it fits best, the motor wires run under the topdeck to the motor which means I have to unsolder them to get the slipper out - but it's much neater this way
