dc racing do a hex screw kit for about £10. much better than the kit screws.
rear UJ's are a good buy, but not 100% essential
same goes for the B4 blue titanium turnbuckles.
double up the front shock mount with an atomic carbon one.
upgrade the shock seals if they are the old ones in your kit.
Also DON'T use the kit diff balls, they are kack. get some AE tungsten ones or ceramics if you can afford it. same goes for the thrust balls.

to shim the diff, just move one of the thick shims from the inside of the gear to the outside, and make sure your slipper has at least some slip to it, not locked up!

not sure about the carbon chassis. i tried an atomic chassis and found the car to be really unbalanced to before over jumps and also looser round the track. the kyosho one probably won't be as bad, but the flex in the original kit chassis definitely seems to generate more grip.
