you don't have lots of money to splash out so i'd try find a 4wd thats reliable and durable, never having raced 4wd before your probably going to have some crashs and tumbles so it would be nice to have spares available trackside that arn't going to make you bankrupt! I'd suggest a kyosha zx5, associated b44 or hotbodies d4 as spares are almost always available trackside at batley/york and these 3 cars relitively easy to understand and drive with plenty of other drivers that will be able to help you with any setup tips or questions you may have and the cars can come 2nd near the price you can afford, can't comment on the tamiya durga as i don't have much knowledge on them but from what i've seen and heard it's a good competitive 4wd for all driver abilities and is a good price, only thing i can comment on is the tamiya hop up parts arn't cheap and you may want a few of them as i've heard a few things are essential for the durga.
